ONE OF HOUSTON'S most notable philanthropists, historical conservationists and party hostesses has hit a major milestone, and she's embracing it with some heart-warming thoughts on social media that have her followers swooning.

Phoebe Tudor, a big supporter of arts groups like Houston Ballet and Houston Symphony whose credits also include leading major efforts to restore Downtown's library and more lately the Astrodome, has hit the big 6-0. "Hello 60, it's me Phoebe," she wrote on her Instagram page yesterday. "Let's do this! Bring on the next decade, I'm ready."

She added: "My sweet mother-in-law told me today how she loved her sixties, a time of weddings, grandchildren, enjoying your young adult children, having the good health to travel and enjoy life with your husband … continuing to enjoy the benefits of all your previous efforts, with more self-confidence (or fewer cares) than in younger years. I love that!"

Tudor's husband Bobby Tudor is chairman of energy advisory firm Tudor Pickering Holt & Co. and also an active philanthropist. Last year her was board chair of the Greater Houston Partnership. He and Phoebe chaired the MFAH gala in May, per another recent post on Phoebe's Instagram page.

Phoebe, who has told friends she intends to the "poster girl for 60," continued in her birthday post: "As my own sweet mom, who lived to be 94, used to say when anyone asked how she felt about growing older, 'it's better than the alternative.' It is a blessing to grow older, and we all age at the same rate, one day at a time.

"The days may be long but the years are short. I'm trying to enjoy each of these days and take nothing for granted. Seize the day. Praise the Lord. Count your blessings. Take care of yourself, and those you love."

Phoebe reports that she and Bobby are enjoying the hot months at their summer home in Nantucket presently, and they will be visiting their oldest daughter and her fiancé in L.A. in August.

HOUSTON BALLET’S 2025–2026 season opened in high style with a double celebration. After the curtain fell on Onegin — John Cranko’s tale of love and rejection — more than 220 patrons gathered on stage at the Wortham for the annual Opening Night Onstage Dinner, one of the company’s most anticipated traditions.

The evening paid special tribute to Jim Nelson. Nelson, who took the helm as Executive Director in 2012, guided the Ballet through the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and the challenges of COVID. During dinner, Nelson was honored with a proclamation from the City of Houston. Even Nelson’s mother attended and received a special shout-out during his dinner toast.
