The Zadoks’ Post Oak Place Now Open, With Sprawling Zadok Store as Main Tenant

AFTER YEARS OF planning and construction, the highly anticipated new mixed-use setup of Post Oak Place is now open on Post Oak Boulevard. The anchor tenant is the Zadok family of jewelers, which has moved into a sparkling new two-tiered space double the size of its old digs next door, and full to the brim with new showrooms, shops-within-shops and pop-ups. The Zadoks are also the owners of the new development.

Jonathan Zadok describes the new development, designed by regionally famous architect Michael Hsu, as "Fifth Avenue meets the Meat-Packing District."

Family patriarch Dror Zadok, who opened the Zadok jewelry store in Houston 45 years ago, offered this in a statement: "My wife Helene and I have always dreamed of leaving a legacy to our family, and we could not be more thrilled to see our new mixed-use project finally come to life. Just like the day we first opened in 1976, we want our new store to be an extension of our home by creating a warm and welcoming environment where we can provide professional and personalized assistance to our customers at a fair price."

Post Oak Place boasts a dramatic 26-foot porte cochère flanked by Zadok Jewelers, Northern Trust bank and a pair of restaurants, including the modern Japanese concept, Uchiko, a spinoff of the perennially trendy Uchi. Within the new Zadok store itself, the "interior is marked by a calming palette of warm wood, Italian stone flooring and velveteen wall coverings juxtaposed with brass ornamentation and rich detailing throughout," per a press release.

Besides the 60 jewelry and watch brands that Zadok has carried since the family first launched, the new store will introduce Cartier, A. Lange & Söhne, Roger Dubuis and Omega. "The family also partnered with internationally acclaimed watchmakers and jewelers to create four in-store boutiques reflecting the look and feel of their respective flagship locations with a full assortment of boutique-only selections," the release continues. "Top watch and fine jewelry brands Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC Schaffhausen, Vacheron Constantin and A. Lange & Söhne will line the perimeter of the main floor.

"This is one of the most important retail projects undertaken by any independent jeweler in the U.S. in the last 20 years," said Rudy Chavez, president of A. Lange & Söhne North America.

The new Zadok showroom will also be home to the most updated design concept and first full bar in the world by Italian luxury watch manufacturer Panerai, the family said.

Other notable spaces in the build-out are dedicated to the likes of Swiss watchmaker F.P. Journe, Audemars Piguet, Cartier Watches, Pomellato and Hublot, which is doubling down with its largest shop-in-shop in the nation. A pretty, boulevard-facing upstairs space houses the bridal shop, featuring diamond engagement rings, wedding bands and loose stones. The bridal shop also touts a CAD design studio, for customers looking to design their own pieces. A pop-up space will be dedicated to trunk shows for a rotating roster of emerging and established artists, craftspeople and designers.

The new store opening comes as the family debuts its revamped and expanded e-commerce website.

Fall Philanthropy Report: Urban Harvest Farmers Market Helps ‘Transform Food Accessibility’

What year was your organization launched? Urban Harvest’s Saturday Farmers Market started in 2004 with just seven vendors, providing an outlet for local farms, community and backyard gardeners to sell fresh produce harvested directly from their soils. Now in its 20th year, the market has grown to be one of the largest markets in Texas, supporting over 100 local farmers, ranchers, and food artisans all from within 180 miles of Houston. The market draws 3,000 customers every Saturday morning and includes many original vendors like Animal Farm, Atkinson Farms, and Wood Duck Farm.
