Rice University’s Glasscock School of Continuing Studies toasted 50 years of lifelong learning with a day-long Festival of Curiosity. Rice benefactors, staff members and neighborhood families gathered to enjoy arts and crafts, food truck fare and music courtesy of the Marching Owl Band and DJ Mycle, all while learning about the school’s history and curriculum. ... Meanwhile, another Houston institution also celebrated its 50th anniversary. River Oaks Country Club hosted hundreds of John Daugherty, Realtors agents and supporters for the celebratory happy hour, which included a video tribute to the firm’s namesake.

CHOREOGRAPHER TWYLA THARP has been celebrating 60 years as a dance-maker with a coast-to-coast tour that brings her company to Texas this month, with performances in Dallas, San Antonio, Austin and, on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Wortham Theater Center presented by Performing Arts Houston.
