Escape to Europe Without Leaving Houston: Heights & Co. Hosts Al Fresco Wine & Movie Nights

The patio at Heights & Co.

IT'S ALMOST TIME for summer vacations, but Heights & Co. is offering escapes on its newly redecorated patio in the form of wine and movie nights — no passport needed! Visit France, Italy, Greece, Spain, and more through wine pairings and tasting menus, all complemented by movies set in each location.

The next destination is France on April 9, featuring the movie Ratatouille and a tasting menu that includes Lyonnaise Salad, Duck Confit, and White Fish Provençal. Other movies include Under the Tuscan Sun on April 23, My Big Fat Greek Wedding on May 8, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent on May 15, and Clueless on May 29!

The Heights cocktail bar has partnered with EveryWine, a wine club and tasting room that opened during COVID, to select the wine pairings. Each event begins with a complimentary welcome cocktail — also themed to the movie! — and time to mingle before the movie starts at 7:30 PM. As a sweet touch, a S’mores Board will be available as a standing dessert offering at every event.

“As with all of our events at Heights & Co., our goal with Vacation by the Glass & Co. is to transport our guests with a sensory experience—great wine provided by our friends at EveryWine, delicious food, and a classic film to match the theme,” said Brian Doke, owner of Heights & Co. “It’s the perfect way to unwind and enjoy a little escape without leaving Houston.”

Tickets are priced at $35 per person, covering the curated wine selection and welcome cocktail. Food will be available for purchase separately on the night of the event.

Spa-tacular Getaway Opportunity: Retreat to Mexico this Fall with a Houston Wellness Expert

Palmaïa The House of AïA

THIS FALL, LEBRINA Jackson, owner of Escape Spa in Cypress, is taking her wisdom and joie de wellness to the jungle. Far beyond the walls of her beautiful spa, she’s aiming to create a quiet space for people to work on their personal growth in a community-centric atmosphere. She shares what participants will get out of the trip and why it’s important to take time for self-care in 2025.

Why is it important for people to “retreat”? Life can feel like a non-stop marathon, and sometimes we forget to just... breathe. Retreating offers a chance to step off the treadmill for a bit and hit the reset button. It's about giving your body and mind some much-needed TLC, allowing for genuine relaxation and rejuvenation. Beyond the personal perks, retreats often create a cool sense of community, connecting you with others on a similar path. By carving out space for self-reflection, you can recharge and return to your daily life with a clearer head and a bit more pep in your step.
