The 10 Most Expensive Houston Homes Sold Last Month

LAST MONTH, THE number of new listings remained flat — and the number of active ones fell by a whopping 20 percent — compared to January 2021. Meanwhile, the average list price was up by more than 15 percent, indicating that Houston’s red-hot housing market will continue on this trajectory through at least the first part of the year. Here are the 10 most expensive homes sold in January 2022, per HAR.

59 Tiel Way A Robert Dame-designed, French-modern home constructed in 2016 sold after about two months on the market, listed for $7.3 mil. It backs up to the bayou, and lush greenery abutting the infinity pool almost makes it seem like you’re swimming in a rainforest (just watch out for mosquitos!).

1039 Kirby Dr.

1039 Kirby Dr. Located on a busy stretch of Kirby, this five-bedroom, 9,000-square-foot home is surrounded by tall hedges and gates, offering an impressive amount of privacy — plus a handsome study, wine room and gym, and a Martha Stewart-worthy outdoor kitchen. The list price was $6.5 million, and it took 110 days to close a deal.

11537 Raintree Cir. A stately Tudor-style new build in Piney Point took a while to sell — four months — by today’s standards. With a list price of $6.8 mil, the 10,000-square-foot manse offers a floor plan suited for the consummate entertainer: a sprawling open kitchen with a walk-in pantry and butler’s pantry, separate catering kitchen, wine room, summer kitchen, and full bar in the living area. Upstairs, find a game room with another wet bar, and even a golf simulator.

5158 Huckleberry Cir. The new-construction home in Tanglewood is contemporary with glam finishes and fixtures, especially in the bathrooms. Boasting amenities like a glass elevator and a glassed-in gym overlooking a hybrid tennis-basketball court and pool with a built-in television, the 7,000-square-foot home was listed for $5.4 mil and sold after about three months.

6426 Sewanee Ave. A 2011-built Robert Dame mansion in West U was recently renovated and updated, and the investment presumably paid off in a big way: The four-bedroom house, listed for $5.2 mil, sold after 73 days. The Tudor-style exterior belies the newly light and airy interiors; even the movie room feels bright and open. Peep the lovely blue island in the kitchen!

350 Tynebridge Ln. A six-bed, nine-bath Memorial-area home, listed for $4.8 million, sold rather quickly — perhaps it was due to the primary suite? The massive primary bathroom with dual closets (“walk-in” doesn’t do them justice) is enviable. Other nice touches: Separate media and game rooms each have tufted leather double-doors, and a wine vault has unique metal racks affixed to honed stone walls.

5561 Bordley Dr.

5561 Bordley Dr. Materials such as antiqued brick and custom Terracotta tile set this Tanglewood abode apart from the other Robert Dame-designed homes on this list. A meticulously landscaped backyard recalls an Italian oasis — complete with an air-conditioned loggia next to the pool, ensuring many a summer day is enjoyed to the fullest. Listed for $4.75 million, it sold after just 43 days.

1839 Kirby Dr.

1839 Kirby Dr. A prime swath of River Oaks real estate went for $4.15 million. This Mediterranean-tinged manse has a number of more traditional amenities and design elements — intricately detailed fireplaces, columns, Segreto walls throughout — and the neutral palette will surely offer a beautiful canvas on which the new homeowners can make their mark.

204 Kensington Ct. Yet another picture-perfect Piney Point home made the list, this one on Kensington Court that took four months to sell at a list price of $4.25 mil. The backyard embodies the reason families so often desire to live in the Memorial Villages: verdant grounds with an in-ground trampoline, massive play house, pool and summer kitchen. Inside, darker and more masculine rooms like a library are offset by a mod kitchen.

17 Hedwig Cir. In less than three weeks, this five-bedroom home in Hedwig Village, initially listed for $3.9 mil, was off the market. With ample Southern charm and square footage to match, the traditional-style mansion has wood and limestone floors, wainscoting throughout, and a marble primary bathroom with a steam shower.
